Istanbul Atatürk Airport, named in honour of the founder of the Turkish Republic – Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is the main international airport in Istanbul with the others being Istanbul Hezarfen Airfield and Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.

The airport is used for both commercial passenger flights and cargo flights. The airport has three runways and two passenger terminals. One terminal is used solely for international flights, whilst the second is used for domestic flights.

The airport is well connected to the city centre, located 30 minutes’ drive from the centre of Istanbul. The airport operates 24 hours a day and welcomes private aircraft – however it’s important to consider that this airport can become very congested in peak seasons.
